APIIS History

In 1995 Dr. Paul Choo was given permission by Bob Jones University (BJU) to use their video teaching materials for Asia. So Asia-Pacific Institute of Biblical Studies (APIBS) was founded to run these courses. Its first office was on the ground floor of Gospel Light Baptist Church (23 Matahimik St, Diliman, Quezon City, Manila) which was opened by Dr Bob Jones Jr (Chancellor of Bob Jones University) in 1995.

Shortly after, the APIBS Headquarters was relocated to the ground floor Doane Baptist Church (45 Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City) to cater to the growing number of students in central Philippines. The office in GLBC Manila continued as a branch office to serve the students in Luzon. During these early years, APIBS trained about 3000 pastors/Christian leaders using its video (accompanied by study guides) teaching materials.

In 2012 when Goducate Training Center (San Miguel, Iloilo) was built, APIIS training sessions were held in this more conducive location, which had a nice auditorium, lecture rooms and accommodation for students. This allowed APIBS to train larger numbers of pastors/leaders.
